The Historic District Commission has recently seen an uptick in bad contractors not following the guidelines set forth by the commission, not getting the appropriate approvals, and not obtaining permits for work. This has caused a lot of pain and cost a lot of money to homeowners that didn't know better. Please check out the warning from commissioner James Hamilton.
